How do I choose the right MLM company for me?
The main reason to join an MLM company is because you would like to run your own, home based business but do not have any products to sell, or a sales and marketing system in place.
An MLM company will provide you with everything you need to get started: will have all the products and documentation you need to start immediately; and the support and training to grow the business.
The downside to this is that there will be restrictions on how you run the business: generally though, they are for the good of all, even though you may not always look at it that way. For example, most MLM companies will provide you with a website, and will not let you build your own - this is a restriction, but it ensures that the company retains a professional image at all times - which is important to you, the distributor.
You will also have targets to reach (e.g personal sales, team members, team sales) in order to earn commission. Make sure these targets are reasonable for YOU - what is easily achieved by one person may be impossible for another.
But the most important way to choose an MLM business is to ask yourself the question - 'Do I like their products?'. If you do like them (preferably love them, and happily rave about them!) then you're a good way to finding the right company to work with.
Do investigate the price of starting your business, and the add-on costs: some businesses provide you with everything you need to start (i.e a product range, stationery etc); others provide you with very little, and you will have to buy the rest. Bear that in mind when you are working out how much money it will cost to start.
Don't be sold into the first MLM company you come across - distributors from all of the companies will be enthusiastic about their products and their payplan - take a step back, and take the time to evaluate the company properly. You don't want to become an infamous MLM junkie, jumping from one MLM business to another several times a year - choose rationally, and choose wisely.
When you have found products that you like, make a list of who you can recommend (sell) them to - if you have a list shorter than 10 potential customers, think carefully - is this the right business for YOU?
Take the time to go through the MLM Directory. Each entry tells you about the business, what it sells, what the business aims to achieve. Get your list down to a handful (or less), then start investigating the products and the payplans (you may have to phone the company or a sponsor on our list to do this).
MLM Payplans can be very confusing if you are not used to them - if you don't understand - ASK! Don't be fooled by someone jotting vague figures down for you. Have an idea of how much you want to earn (realistically, of course!) and ask them how to achieve it. For example, you may want to earn £100 in your first month, £200 in your second month, £300 in your third month - ask them what you have to do to earn that money. If they don't know, or can't find out (and if they are new, they may not know and may have to ask their sponsor, so cut them some slack!) - find someone who can answer you.
An MLM business is hard work to start: think of it like rolling a snowball up a hill, can be incredibly frustrating (you will hear the words 'no' and 'pyramid' more than you have ever heard them before in your life!), but can also be tremendous fun, and fantastically rewarding - once you have the snowball up at the top of the hill, the view is amazing, and the snowball rolls much easier from there! Be prepared to spend the next 18 months - 2 years working very hard in your MLM business in order to build the long term benefits that are there, waiting for you!
We wish you great success in your chosen business!
